Storm Lake splits soccer doubleheader with Sioux Center

Storm Lake split a doubleheader against Sioux Center. The girls fell in their opener in a final of 4-1, and the boys won their opener 1-0 in a lightning shortened match. 

The girls game saw a hat trick from the Warriors' Annie Bullock. The scoring opened when she scored with 11:15 to go in the opening half. The Warriors stuck one more time in the half with a score from Taya Gesink to take a 2-0 lead at the half. 

The early part of the second half saw an early flurry of goals for the Warriors. Again, it was Bullock scoring this time two goals in a little over a minute. Bullocks goals were scored at 32:31 and 31:43 to take a 4-0 lead. The Tornadoes would score with 14:23 to go with a Cythia Rodriguez goal. The final score Warriors beat Tornadoes 4-1. Tornadoes now 0-1, Warriors 1-0, Up next for the Tornado girls is hosting Humboldt Thursday evening. 

The boys game was a low scoring defensive affair. The Tornadoes scored in the first half with a Brian Munoz goal with 6:01 to go in the first half. The second half saw rain showers off and on as the teams continued to battle on defense. With 20:20 to go in the second half the game was called due to lightning. Final score Tornadoes defeat Warriors 1-0. Tornadoes now 1-0, Warriors 0-1. Up next for the boys they travel to Humboldt Thursday evening.
