The Storm Lake Police Department has been selected as one of 30 finalists for the U.S. Department of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
The finalists were selected from nearly 34-hundred nominations across the U.S. All of the nominations were initially narrowed down to 140 semifinalists, which include large corporations, small businesses, and public sector organizations.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Freedom Award, which is the highest honor given by the Department of Defense. It recognizes employers for their outstanding support to their employees serving in the National Guard or Reserves.
The Storm Lake Police Department states that it's an honor to be nominated for the prestigious award, and that they are proud of their present and past staff members who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
The winners will be announced early in the summer.
