Basketball Court to be Installed in Seneca Park
March 24, 2021 8:01pm
The Storm Lake Police Department this week announced their latest community policing project, “Operation Hoop Dreams” which will consist of a regulation half-sized basketball court in Seneca Park, just north of the Storm Lake Police Department.
The project has the ability to expand to a full-sized court in the future. The police department is partnering with the City of Storm Lake and City Public Works Department on the project, which is being made possible thanks to a five-thousand dollar grant from the Buena Vista County Foundation. Escalade Sports has donated the hoop, pole, and backboard.
The basketball court is being made possible thanks to some comments from local youth, and forward thinking by some Storm Lake Police Officers. Once the project is completed, basketballs will be available for use at the police department.
Ground breaking on the basketball court is planned for this spring, and the project is expected to be finished early in the summer.
