Buena Vista University senior guard Michael Demers highlights the list of American Rivers All-Conference recognition for the Beaver men's basketball team by earning First Team accolades for the first time in his career.  Freshman Zane Neubaum joined Demers as an all-conference selection after being voted to the Second Team.

In eight conference games this season, Demers lead the Beavers and ranked sixth in the league in scoring at 17.1ppg.  He was in double figures in all eight contests, including three 20-point outbursts.  The Storm Lake, Iowa, native who was a Second Team honoree a season ago, was 11th among the A-R-C leaders in rebounding (5.8rpg), 12th in assists/game (2.6) and third in steals (1.5).  He registered his first career double-double when he scored 21 points and grabbed 10 boards during a win at Luther.

Neubaum was a big factor for the team during his first collegiate season and was one of only three freshman to earn all-conference recognition in the league this season.  The Rockwell City, Iowa, native averaged 13.0ppg against conference foes, averaged 4.1rpg and dished out 1.5apg.  He shot 55.4 percent from the field and 45.7 percent from long range while averaging just shy of 29.0 minutes per night.  He scored in double digits six times in conference play, including a 23-point effort against Simpson on January 28.  In that contest, he was 10-of-13 from the field and made 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.  He turned in his first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds during a win over Nebraska Wesleyan midway through the year.

The Beavers were 9-3 overall this season, including a 6-2 mark in A-R-C play.  The team went on to make its 10th overall appearance in the conference tournament championship game which now sits as the most all-time in league history.
