Arrest made in Clay County following high speed chase

On January 23rd, 2021 the Clay County Sheriff’s Office attempted to initiate a traffic stop at 5:55a.m. on a 2000 Ford F150 going 78mph in a 55mph in the 2500 mile of Highway 18. The suspect vehicle refused to obey commands and led the deputies into Palo Alto County, reaching speeds of 115 mph until the pursuit was called off due to safety concerns. Following an investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was Justin Sky Diggs (31) of Fonda, Ia. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office requested arrest warrants be filed for Justin Sky Diggs for the following infractions committed during the pursuit:

Eluding speed – 25 over the limit – Aggravated Misdemeanor

Speeding (78/55)

No Valid Driver’s License

Improper Use of Lanes

Passing in a No Passing Zone

Failure to Obey a Stop Sign

Justin Sky Diggs was located and arrested in the 10 Blk of E. 1st Street in Spencer, Ia on February 26th, 2021 at approximately 1:40a.m. During the arrest it was determined that Justin Diggs was in possession of a glass meth pipe. Diggs was subsequently charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor and served his valid Clay County arrest warrants for the above charges. Diggs was transported to the Clay County Jail on the charges where he awaits his initial appearance. Diggs has a $2,500 cash only bond. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation and arrest by the Spencer Police Department and the Fort Dodge Police Department. No other charges at this time.
