Two Arrested Following Clay County Traffic Stop

Two people received multiple charges following a traffic stop in Clay County late last week.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy initiated the traffic stop late Friday morning in the 33-hundred mile of 240th Avenue. The deputy observed the driver, 44-year-old Jacob Longman of Estherville, switch places with the passenger, 65-year-old Judy Laue of Graettinger.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that Longman had a suspended driver’s license. A search warrant application was made and granted for the vehicle. During the search, authorities located marijuana wax, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

Longman and Laue were both arrested and transported to the Clay County Jail. Longman was charged with 3rd Offense Possession of a Controlled Substance Marijuana and 3rd Offense Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, both class D felonies…and Driving Under Suspension, Reckless Driving, No Insurance, No Seatbelt, Failure to Use Proper Towing Equipment, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, all simple misdemeanors. Laue was charged with 2nd Offense Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, an aggravated misdemeanor…and simple misdemeanor charges of Reckless Driving, No Seatbelt, No Insurance, Failure to Use Proper Towing Equipment, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
