Sioux Central Falls in District Final

The Sioux Central Rebels fell to the Spirit Lake Indians 65-52 in Substate 2 semi-final.

In the opeing quarter saw the Rebels jump out to a 8-5. The Indians would go on a 5-2 run to tie the game at 10. This would be the first of three ties. The teams would be tied at 12 and 19 during the first quarter. In the closing seconds of the first quarter the basket to give the Indians the 21-19 lead was scored by Creighton Morisch.

The second quarter saw the Indians opened up on a 8-3 run to extend the lead to 29-22. The Rebels would have an answer in the run of 7-2 to cut the lead to 31-29. However the Indians would end the half on a 7-0, which included another late basket with mere seconds to go. The Indians lead 38-29 at the half.

The third quarter saw a defensive clinic by the Rebels. The Rebels only gave up four points in the quarter. The Rebels cut into the lead with a 4-2 run to cut the lead to 40-33. The Rebels finished the quarter on a 5-2 run to cut the Indian lead to 42-38 after 3.

The fourth quarter saw the Indians jump out to a quick start on a 10-5 lead to 52-43. The teams went back and forth to see the score move to 59-48.The Indians finished the game on a 6-4 run to win 65-52.

With the loss the Rebels wrap up their season at 13-11, the Indians advance to the Substate 2 final to take on #6 Western Christian.

The Rebels were lead in scoring by: The "Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game" Jacob Hargens had a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds, Connor Christian had 10 points and Carter Boettcher had 7 points.

The Rebels say good-bye to six seniors: Carter Buckley, Jay Joenks, Gavin Morton, Connor Christian, Trevor Demers, and Matt Raner.
