In the boys game Storm Lake escaped with a 60-58 win. The Tornadoes had a 49-36 lead after scoring the first basket of the 4th quarter. Cherokee would then go on a 16-0 run over the next three minutes to take a 52-49 lead with five minutes to play. In the final 30 seconds Cherokee had the ball and led 58-56 but they were called for traveling which drew a technical foul from the Cherokee bench. Jaidyn Coon would then drain the technical free throws to tie the game at 58-58. After a Tornado timeout Storm Lake would get Coon the ball in the post and he was fouled going up for a shot with 4.6 seconds left, he would drain both free throws to give Storm Lake the lead 60-58. Cherokee had one last chance inbounding the ball with 1.5 seconds left only to have Coon strip the ball from Coy Lewis as he was going up for a potential tying shot at the end of the game and Storm Lake was able to do enough to get the win.

Cherokee was led by Jaxon Paulsrud’s 17 points, Jacob Hurd had 12, and Henry Lugar chipped in with ten. Storm Lake was led by Coon’s 19 points and Justin Guynn scored ten.
