A Le Mars man has been sentenced to federal prison for COVID-19 unemployment fraud.
55-year-old Dennis Chinn was sentenced Tuesday to three months.
According to the The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa, Chinn admitted in a plea agreement to falsely reporting his income so he could get an additional 600-dollars in weekly unemployment payment. Chinn reportedly received more than 13-thousand dollars through the CARES Act Iowa unemployment funds.
In addition to the prison term, Chinn must also pay over 12-thousand dollars in restitution, and must serve a two-year term of supervised release.
