Ridge View and Storm Lake Split Doubleheader

Basketball split between Storm Lake and Ridge View saw the Ridge View girls win 73-40 and the Storm Lake boys win 57-49.

 

The girls game started with a Storm Lake basket to have the Tornadoes lead 2-0. The Raptors would answer in a big way scoring 17 straight points, and outscoring the Tornadoes 26-4 in the quarter to lead 26-6 after one.

The Raptors would open up the second on a 11-6 run, but the Tornadoes would answer with a 9-4 run to get the score to 41-21 at the half.

The Tornadoes would open the third on a 5-2 run to get within 43-26. However the Raptors would answer with their own 5-2 run to regain the 20 point lead 48-28. The teams would trade baskets to get to 52-31. The Tornadoes would end the third on a 6-2 run to trail 54-37 after 3.

The Tornadoes would hit a three right out of the gate in the fourth to cut the lead to 54-40, but that would be as close as they would get. The Raptors would score the final 19 and win 73-40. With the win the Raptors improve to 5-4, and the Tornadoes fall to 1-10.

Stat leaders: Storm Lake-Mary Yanga 17 points, Holly Dierenfield 9 points (all in second half). Ridge View- "Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game" Madison Stowater 17 points (10 2nd half points), Shae Dutler 14 points (4 3's). Emma Vohs 13 points

The boys game started as a defensive battle. The Tornadoes did not allow the Raptors to score until 3:25 in the quarter. The Tornadoes lead 10-2 after one.

The second saw the Raptors go on an 8-2 run to cut the Tornado lead to 12-10. The Tornadoes would close out the half on a 11-8 run to lead 23-18 at the half.

The third quarter would be just as tight, the Tornadoes opened the quarter on a 12-6 run to get to 35-24 lead which would be their biggest lead. The Raptors would close out the quarter on a 4-0 run to get within 35-28.

The Tornadoes opened the fourth on a 6-2 run to get up 41-30. Once again the Raptors would close the gap again, this time on a 10-4 run to get within 45-40. The Tornadoes would pull away for good on an 11-5 run to get up 56-45 and eventually win 57-49.

Stat leaders: Ridge View-Cade Harriman 22 points, Bo Clausen 12 points. Storm Lake-lead by "Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game" Sam Slight with 22, Mark Eddie with 11.
