Mustang Girls Dominate Crofton

The 2nd-ranked in 1A Newell Fonda girls never trailed as they took down a powerhouse squad from Crofton, Nebraska 80-55 in a game played in North Sioux City, South Dakota on Saturday afternoon. 

The Mustangs raced out to a 25-12 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, and powered their way to a 48-24 lead at the half.  Newell Fonda got a 35-point continuous clock rule going midway in the 3rd. 

Newell Fonda, leading the state in steals per game, had their fair share again with 16, as their defense got credit for the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of The Game. 

Ella Larsen led three Mustangs in double-figures with 19, followed by Bailey Sievers and Maggie Walker each with 16.  Crofton was led by Lacey Sprakel with 22. 

Newell Fonda is now 10-1, dropping Crofton to 11-2. 

The Mustang girls next game is next Thursday as part of a varsity double-header at Estherville Lincoln Central.  The Newell Fonda boys play host to Spirit Lake on Monday.
