HWC Sweeps Tornadoes In Lakes Conference Hoops

The Western Christian basketball teams left Storm Lake Friday night with a varsity double-header sweep defeating the Tornadoes 72-37 in the girls game and 71-26 in the boys game.

The Wolfpack girls never trailed and led 38-9 at the half and had 12 different players score led by Lydia Van Kley's 13 points.  Storm Lake was led by Holly Dierenfield's game high 14 points.  HWC is now 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Storm Lake, now 1-9 overall, 0-5 in the Lakes, will play again Monday at Ridge View.

The Western Christian boys made 15 baskets in the first quarter and raced out to a 36-8 lead after the first eight minutes of their win.  Tyson Boer made five 3-pointers and scored a game high 21 points and the Wolfpack improve to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the Lakes.

Storm Lake was led in scoring by Sam Slight's seven points, the Tornadoes fall to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the Lakes.  Post game interviews with Storm Lake coaches Nate Reichter and Heath Stille can be heard by clicking below.
