November 24, 2020 11:27am
The Storm Lake Police Association announces that The Annual Storm Lake Police Association Gloves of Love Program will begin on Monday, November 30th, and will run until December 16th.
This is the 14th year of the program, which involves placing a Christmas Tree in the lobby of the Police Administration Building and citizens are invited to join the members of the association in hanging children's gloves and other items of donated clothing or non-perishable food items on or near the tree. After collecting the donated items, the Police Association will take all of the donated items to the Upper Des Moines Office to be distributed to children and families in need throughout the community.
Citizens are invited to stop by the lobby of the Storm Lake Police Department and place their donated items on or near the Christmas Tree, or give them to on-duty staff at the facility. The Police Department lobby is open from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday.
Lieutenant John Bauer, Treasurer of the Association says, “During this Holiday Season we would encourage citizens to donate items or food to be in turn provided to those in need. Please consider donating so those less fortunate than ourselves, may have a happy holiday. It is our hope to be able to help as many families as possible. Happy Holidays!”
