Clay County Public Health Holding Public Hearing Next Week on Proposed Face Mask Recommendation
November 20, 2020 9:22am
The Clay County Board of Health will hold a public hearing online next week on a proposed recommendation for a face covering regulation. It would require appropriate face coverings be worn when a distance of six feet or greater between people cannot be maintained. Following Tuesday's hearing, the board of health will vote on whether or not to bring the recommendation to the Clay County Board of Supervisors for final adoption through a resolution.
Clay County Board of Health Chair Dr. Janessa Mechler says board members are concerned COVID-19 continues to pose an increasing threat to the health and well-being of Clay county residents and visitors.
She says the regulation is "not intended to be punitive or stigmatizing", adding they're intended to be in the best interest of the health and safety of residents and economic recovery.
Next Tuesday's public hearing begins at 5:30 pm and will be held online at www.WebEx.com. Enter the meeting number 1264674106 and meeting password CCBOH. You can also join by phone at 1-408-418-9388.
