Mustang Football Season Ends At Audubon

Gavin Smith ran for 243 yards and three touchdowns and passed for another score leading Audubon to a 28-6 win over Newell-Fonda in the third round of the 8-player playoffs.  Smith carried the ball 36 times in the game and also completed 3-of-6 passes for another 22 yards as he accounted for 265 of Audubon's 297 yards of total offense.

Newell-Fonda had 168 yards of total offense in the game with 81 on the ground and 97 through the air.  The only score for the Mustangs was Hunter Christiansen's seven yard run in the 2nd quarter that made the score 14-6 at the time.  The Wheelers, who led 14-6 at the half, scored both of their 2nd half touchdowns in the 3rd quarter to break the game open.

Gabe Sievers ran the ball 13 times for 41 yards and Trey Jungers had six receptions for 48 yards for the Mustangs who finish their year with an 8-2 record.  Audubon, now 8-0, will play at Remsen-Saint Mary's in the quarter-final round Friday night at Remsen.
