OA-BCIG Rips Western Christian ; Advances to Quarerfinals

OA-BCIG scored 27 unanswered points from midway in the 2nd quarter to early in the 4th in their 41-14 victory over Western Christian in a Class 1A 3rd round playoff game in Ida Grove. 

The Falcons started fast with an eight-play, 75-yard drive, as Cooper Dejean rushed for a five-yard touchdown, followed by Cade Wareham's point-after to give OA-BCIG a 7-0 lead.  Late in the 1st quarter, Griffin Diersen capped a 77-yard drive with a six-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0. 

The Wolfpack scored on the ensuing drive, as a 57-yard touchdown pass from Tyson Boer to Wyatt Gulker cut the OA-BCIG lead in half.  Wareham kicked a 28-yard field goal with under five minutes remaining in the half to increase the Falcons lead to 17-7.  Western Christian was marching late in the 2nd quarter, but on 4th and 4 from the Falcons 7, a fake field goal pass fell incomplete with 56 seconds on the clock, as OA-BCIG maintained their ten point lead at the half. 

Dejean picked off a pass to end Western Christian's 2nd half opening drive, and then wound up scoring on a 3rd and 14 pass that turned into a 24-yard touchdown pass from Dejean to Diersen to up the lead to 24-7. 

From there, the Falcons continued to pile on with a 24-yard touchdown run from Dejean, a two-yard run by Diersen, and a 27-yard field goal by Wareham.  Western Christian scored the last touchdown with 1:26 left. 

Unofficially, OA-BCIG racked up 478 yards of offense to 220 for Western Christian. 

Dejean passed for 319 yards, and rushed for 130 more.  Easton Harms had eight catches for 105 yards, and Treyten Kolar emerged with five reception for 84 yards. 

With their 22nd consecutive win, top-ranked OA-BCIG is now 9-0.  Western Christian's season concludes at 5-4. 

OA-BCIG will host West Sioux (7-2) next Friday in the 1A quarterfinals.  West Sioux advanced with a 36-15 win over Emmetsburg.
