CAEDC Announces Chair of Honor Program

October 27, 2020 9:29am

The Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation has introduced a countywide “Chair of Honor” program.

The program will recognize our nation’s military Prisoners of Wars, Missing in Action, and their families. CAEDC will be collaborating with Hussey Seating Company of North Berwick, Maine on the project.

CAEDC will hold a dedication ceremony on Wednesday, November 11th at 2pm. The public is invited to attend the ceremony at the Cherokee Golf Course.

The first permanent or portable seats in the “Chair of Honor” program will be at the Cherokee Washington High School, MMCRU High School, and River Valley High School. An additional portable “Chair of Honor” will be kept at the Cherokee Area Economic Development office, and will be permitted to be reserved for temporary display at appropriate community events. The national guidelines for “Chairs of Honor” require the seats be cordoned off with stanchions and ropes to promote proper respect and to ensure that these are very special chairs not utilized by the general public.

“Chairs of Honor” are placed to draw attention to the cause of our POW/MIA’s.
