Lenzmeier Introduced as New BVU President

October 26, 2020 4:50pm

Dr. Brian Lenzmeier was introduced as the 19th president of Buena Vista University at a press conference at the Lamberti Recreation Center this (Mon) afternoon, with several audio clips posted below.

Lenzmeier said he feels indebted to previous University leaders.

Lenzmeier said having started out as a faculty member at BVU was probably the best thing he could have done because he got to know and work with students.

Lenzmeier started at BVU as a Biology Professor in 2003, and said he never envisioned becoming President for most of the last 17 years...

Lenzmeier said getting the chance to greet every student on Convocation Day in August is what really sold him on wanting to become the permanent University President. He said he saw an opportunity to influence even more people than he did as a teacher and provost.

Lenzmeier has a number of things he looks forward to working on, including diversifying the staff.

BVU Board of Trustees member Tim Brown (pictured below) introduced Lenzmeier as the new President.

Brown said it became very evident within the first several weeks of Lenzmeier's interim presidency that Lenzmeier had found his calling, and that BVU had found its next leader.
