Volleyball Triangular at St. Mary's Recap ; Panthers Win Once ; Newell Fonda Sweeps

Storm Lake St. Mary's hosting a triangular on Monday that included Newell Fonda and Whiting.  

The host Panthers swept Whiting in the first match by scores of 25-22, 25-17, and 25-18, giving St. Mary's their 4th win of the season.  

8th-ranked in 1A Newell Fonda then won in straight sets over Whiting, 25-11, 25-12, and 25-6.  The Mustangs kill efficiency was .340.  Ella Larsen led the way with ten kills.  Newell Fonda had six aces. 

Newell Fonda won in three over St. Mary's in the nightcap 25-8, 25-10, and 25-21.  St. Mary's led twice early in the opening set, but a 9-0 Mustangs run put them up 16-5.  Newell Fonda went on an 8-0 run late in the 2nd set.  The Panthers led by as many as six in the 3rd set.  Newell Fonda took their first lead at 19-18, and didn't trail the rest of the way.  Larsen led the way again with eight kills, and Mary Walker had seven.  

Newell Fonda is now 23-3, 8-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference, as they extend their winning streak to nine.  St. Mary's sits at 4-13.
