Albert Bertus Ohden was born on April 16, 1928, to parents Henry Ranke and Pauline (Gerdes) Ohden in Bonesteel, SD. He lived in Bonesteel during his younger years but he and his family eventually moved to Wall Lake where he attended school. Albert graduated from Wall Lake High School with the Class of 1946. He went to work for Hallett Materials before entering the Army and being stationed overseas in Okinawa during the Korean Conflict. He spent two years on active duty and four years on inactive duty being honorably discharged on June 28, 1957.
On December 27, 1953, Albert was united in marriage to Shirley Hudgin at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon, IA. This union was blessed with two sons, Neil and Craig.
