Tornadoes Score First Win Of The Year At Heelan

The Storm Lake football team scored touchdowns on their first four possessions of the second half en route to a 34-24 win over Bishop Heelan in a game played Friday night at Sioux City.

David Soto completed 8-of-12 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another as Storm Lake overcame a 10-7 halftime deficit.  Jailen Hansen was again his main target as he hauled in seven catches for 146 yards and touchdown catches of eight and 71 yards.  

Storm Lake ran the ball 37 times for 204 yards with Ben Raveling carrying the load gaining 116 yards on 14 carries.  Storm Lake had 281 yards of offense in the 2nd half (370 for the game) compared to the Crusaders 109.  Angel Carranza and Jesus Soto added rushing touchdowns in the Tornadoes first win of the year.

Storm Lake, now 1-2 and 1-0 in the district will play host to undefeated Spencer next Friday night at 7pm.  The Tigers ran their record to 2-1 with a 28-0 win over Le Mars on Friday.
