Extreme Drought Still Showing Up in Area Counties

Despite the much-needed rainfall this week, a portion of Buena Vista, and also a part of Pocahontas County, is still in the D-3, extreme drought category, according to the latest Iowa drought monitor released on Thursday.

The remainder of Buena Vista County, and most of the rest of Pocahontas County, is in the D-2, extreme drought category.

Most of Sac County, and a majority of Calhoun, remains in extreme drought.

95-percent of the state is at least abnormally dry. There still isn't any D-4, exceptional drought in Iowa.

As of shortly before 11am today (Fri), 1.72 inches of rain has been measured outside of the Storm Lake radio stations this week since Tuesday.
