Sioux Central Defeats East Sac

Sioux Central grinded out a 16-6 win over East Sac County in a Week 2 game at Wall Lake.  

East Sac capped off an 89-yard scoring drive with under four minutes to go in the 1st quarter on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Schmitt to Caleb Villhauer for a 6-0 lead.  

The Rebels answered on the ensuing possession with a 70-yard scoring drive.  Jayden Harder scored a five-yard touchdown run on 4th and 2, and Carter Boettcher's two-point converstion run put Sioux Central on top 8-6.

After Sioux Central forced a punt, they proceeded to travel 56 yards, and scored on a three-yard touchdown run from Gibson Olson with 5:12 remaining in the 2nd quarter.  A two-point conversion pass from Boettcher to Austin Vanderhoff put the Rebels up 16-6, and that ended up concluding the scoring.  

Sioux Central slightly outgained East Sac 222 yards to 208.  Olson carried the ball 15 times for 110 yards, and Harder ran 26 times for 84 yards.  Harder also led the way defensively with 12.5 tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery.  

Schmitt threw for 102 yards, and Camden Villhauer led the rushing attack with 56 yards.  

Sioux Central (2-0) plays their 1A district opener next week at West Sioux.  

East Sac (0-2) opens district play at home against Treynor.
