SOS Thrift Store in Storm Lake Has Re-opened
July 29, 2020 9:11am
The SOS Thrift Store in Storm Lake is open again following a shut-down earlier this spring related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since 2005, the organization has worked to sell gently-used houseware, clothing, books, furniture, and more, with the revenue it earns going to support Storm Lake St. Mary's school. Over one-million dollars have been given back to St. Mary's due to the work of the organization.
The store is located at 409 Cayuga Street, and shoppers and donations are now welcome between the hours of noon and 4pm Fridays and Saturdays.
The SOS Thrift Store is entirely volunteer-run, and workers are always needed. Each K-12 St. Mary's School family is asked to give back eighteen hours by assisting at the store each school year, but volunteers do not have to be associated with the school to help.
Call the SOS Thrift Store (712-213-0767) or St. Mary's Catholic School (732-4166) to volunteer. An online sign-up sheet is also available on the St. Mary's School website under the 'Parents' tab.
