July 28, 2020 6:42pm

#1 in Class 2A North Linn Lynx takedown Ridge View Raptors 10-0 in five innings

In the first trip to state since 2013, the Raptors would go down in order in the top of the first as senior pitch Abby Flanagan struck out all three batter that she saw. The Lynx would get right after the Raptors in the first when Hannah Bridgewater got on board with an infield hit and then stole two bases to get to third base. Bridgewater would come in to score when the second batter Kaitlyn Sommerfelt hit a sacrifice fly. After one Lynx lead 1-0.

The second inning was more dominance from Flanagan, striking out another two Raptors and getting a weak fly out to the pitcher. A mistake and a walk helped fuel the three-run second that happened for the Lynx. Top of the third was another three up and three down inning for the Raptors. The Lynx really started hitting the ball hard in the bottom half of the third. The Lynx would collect five hits in a four-run inning. The inning would start with a double by Grace Flanagan, base hit by Jill Smith and then another double by Rae Milligan that scored two runs. Later in the inning, Jenna Lemley and Bridgewater would add to the lead with run-scoring hits. After three Lynx lead 8-0.

The final two innings saw the Raptors both begin to put the ball in play and slow down the Lynx. After striking out six times through the first nine batters the Raptors would put the ball in play four of the final seven batters. The Lynx would add one run in both the fourth and fifth. The fourth was an Abby Flanagan solo home run to center field and the fifth was a Sommerfelt base hit to right to end the game 10-0.

The Raptors were no-hit by Abby Flanagan who picked up her 16th win of the season, the single blemish on her line a hit by a pitch in the 5th.
