Pocahontas Area Baseball Team Advances To Sub-State

Playing on their home diamond Saturday night the Pocahontas Area baseball team defeated Forest City 5-1 in a class 2A district final.

Christian Davidson improved to 6-0 on the year as he cruised through 5 1/3 innings allowing no runs on three hits, striking out six and threw only 63 pitches.  Gavin Ehn threw the final 1 2/3 innings giving up one run on one hit.

The Indians scored three runs on four hits in the bottom of the 4th inning, Trey Oehlertz had an RBI triple and Ehn delivered a two-run single.  Poky would then plate an unearned run in the 5th.

Forest City finishes the year 8-9 overall, Pocahontas Area is now 16-1 and will play Dike-New Hartford Tuesday night in a 2A Sub-state game that starts at 7pm and will be played at West Fork High School.  The game will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM KAYL and stormlakeradio.com
