No Mercury Detected in Newell Water

Laboratory test results showed that the drinking water in Newell is clear of mercury contamination, and the city is working to properly remove mercury from the city's treatment plant.
There was no detection of mercury in water samples in drinking water taken at five sites.
The city of Newell issued the “do not use” water advisory Wednesday after the water supply operator noticed a small amount of mercury in a wastewater drain at the treatment plant. The advisory was lifted Wednesday evening.
