The Sioux Rapids City Council is having a special meeting this Monday, June 29th to address the controversial comment that Police Chief Tim Porter posted on Facebook last week regarding protesters in Des Moines.
The meeting will include a public hearing, followed by a possible closed session, and then disciplinary action will be determined.
The meeting will begin at 6pm at the Sioux Rapids City Maintenance Shop, just east of City Hall.
On a post that showed the image of a truck driving through protesters during a Black Lives Matter rally in Des Moines, Chief Porter commented on the posting, writing “Hit the gas and hang on over the road bumps.”
Porter apologized for the post last week, calling it a “total accident.”
