Mustangs Win Home Opener Convincingly

The Newell Fonda baseball team won their 2nd straight game to start the year, as they rolled over Storm Lake St. Mary's 15-0 in three innings on Tuesday.  

The Mustangs scored multiple runs in each inning, capped by an eight-run 3rd inning that ended on a two-RBI triple by Tanner Gerke.  They had nine hits in the game.  Aden Mahler also had two RBI's, as every Newell Fonda batter reached base at least once.  Mason Dicks pitched the first two-plus innings, and was relieved by Trey Jungers.  

The Panthers (0-2) were led by Chase Hurd who went two for two at the plate.  Mason Laven also had a hit for St. Mary's, as they'll play their home opener against Southeast Valley on Friday.  

Newell Fonda is scheduled to play at Remsen St. Mary's on Thursday.
