Teen Dies in ATV Accident

An ATV accident in Sac County has claimed the life of a teenager.
According to the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 2:30 last Monday morning, May 18th. 17-year-old Ryan Stephens of Sac City was a passenger on the back of an ATV that was being operated by 21-year old Kele Robinson of Sac City.
The ATV was being driven on the road leading in to lower Hagge Park south of Sac City when Robinson lost control and struck a tree. Robinson was ejected from the ATV and landed in the Raccoon River. Stephens was also ejected.
Stephens was taken by private car to Loring Hospital, and was then transferred to a Sioux City Hospital with life threatening conditions. Stephens died from his injuries last Thursday morning.
Two separate search warrants were served in connection with the investigation. The first was on Robinson for a sample of his blood. The sample has been sent to the DCI Crime Lab to determine toxicology.
The second warrant for controlled substances was served at Robinson's residence at 405 Bowery Street in Sac City, where drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana was seized.
The investigation is ongoing.
