Spirit Lake sweeps Tornadoes in Lakes hoops

Lakes Conference basketball at Spirit Lake Tuesday night and the Indians swept Storm Lake winning the girls game 63-26 and Spirit Lake won the boys game 70-53.

Jordyn Hamm led three Indians in double figures with 14 as the Indians led from start to finish in the girls game improving to 4-2 overall.  The Tornadoes were led by Holly Dierenfield and Mary Yanga with six points each, the Tornadoes fall to 0-6.

The Spirit Lake boys team used an 11-0 run at the end of the first half to build a 36-23 lead after two quarters and Storm Lake would get no closer than five points in the 2nd half as the Tornadoes dropped to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Luke Sidles drained five of the nine 3-pointers that the Indians made in the game and scored 18 points.  The Tornadoes were led by Jesus Soto's 14 points and Mark Eddie added 12.

The Storm Lake teams play again Friday night at Spencer.  Those games will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM KAYL.
