Newell Fonda Girls ; East Sac Boys Stay Perfect

The Newell Fonda girls basketball team continued their early season mastery with a 77-26 win over East Sac on Friday in Newell.
The Mustangs did not trail, as they connected on 14 three-pointers. Maggie Walker hit five downtowners, and had a game-high 20 points. Macy Sievers finished with 17, Megan Morenz had 11, and Bailey Sievers added 10.
The Raiders were led by Maty Quirk with 10, as East Sac is now 1-4, 1-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference.
2nd ranked Newell Fonda goes to 5-0, 2-0.
The East Sac boys won a defensive-minded contest 55-44 over Newell Fonda.
The Raiders scored 11 straight points to go up 14-5 after the 1st quarter. East Sac led by as many as 13 early in the 2nd, but Newell Fonda clawed within 26-20 at the half. The Mustangs got the deficit down to four early in the 3rd, but East Sac hit consecutive three-pointers, and the lead stood at 38-31 entering the 4th. Newell Fonda couldn't get any closer during the final quarter.
Camden Schroeder led East Sac with a game-high 21. Griffin O'Neill contributed 12.
Tanner Gerke led the Mustangs with 10.
East Sac improves to 4-0. The Raiders teams host Pocahontas Area on Tuesday.
Newell Fonda is now 3-2. The Mustangs teams next play on Thursday at Cherokee, which will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM KAYL.
