December 05, 2019 6:16am

The Iowa State men's basketball team (5-3, 0-0 Big 12) used a 15-0 second-half run to pull away from Kansas City (5-5, 0-0 WAC), 79-61, on Wednesday night at Hilton Coliseum. Tyrese Haliburton, Michael Jacobson and Rasir Bolton scored 19 points each to lead the way for the Cyclones.

Iowa State put together an impressive 11-0 run late in the first half to surge in front of a feisty Kansas City squad prior to halftime. The run came with less than six minutes remaining in the opening stanza, after the 'Roos had opened up a 24-20 lead behind a 10-2 spurt of their own. Guard Rob Whitfield helped lead the Kansas City rally by knocking down a pair of triples during the stretch to give the visitors their largest lead of the night.

Cyclones host Seton Hall Sunday at 8pm.
