Teen Charged With Reckless Use of Fire
February 04, 2016
A Storm Lake teen was charged Tuesday night after police were dispatched to 909 Pinecrest Drive to investigate a report of a burning object falling from the sky and landing in snow behind the residence.
Officers located signs of a fire and melted snow near the house and garage, and detected the odor of gasoline. Police allege a 15-year-old boy from Storm Lake poured gasoline into a snow drift near the house and then lit the fuel on fire. He then alerted his guardian that something had fallen from the sky, and the guardian called 911. No damage was reported.
The boy was charged with reckless use of fire, a serious misdemeanor… and released to his guardian pending an appearance in juvenile court.
