SL Education Association Initial Pay Proposal

February 04, 2016

The Storm Lake Education Association presented their first proposal for 2016-2017 negotiations to the School Board Thursday morning.

The association is asking for a six-and-a-half percent total package increase at a cost of 808-thousand dollars. After insurance information is available, the association will meet with the district to determine how the money will be allocated. The association is also asking for some adjustments to sick leave, emergency leave, and a training pay rate.

Last year, the association initially asked for an increase of 5.75 percent. The school board countered with a two-percent raise… and they settled for a 3.7 percent increase.

The school board plans to meet next Thursday (Feb. 11) morning to present their initial proposal. Further negotiations are expected to be in closed session.
