Laurens Man Charged in Storm Lake Stabbing Pleads Not Guilty

A Laurens man charged with attempted murder in connection to a stabbing incident in Storm Lake in September has pleaded not guilty.

31-year-old Oscar Ortiz has been charged with Attempted Murder, a class B felony…Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury and Assault While Participating in a Felony, both class C felonies…and Going Armed With Intent, a class D felony. According to online court records, Ortiz entered the “not guilty” plea last Friday. Earlier this week, a pretrial conference was scheduled for December 14th, and the trial is scheduled for January 9th.

Ortiz allegedly confronted a victim outside of 1601 Lochedum Drive in Storm Lake on September 18th and stabbed him five times in the upper torso. Ortiz also reportedly stole the victim’s phone. The victim sustained serious injuries.
