SLSM Ivey’s School Sign

December 14, 2015

Dr. Troy and Grace Ivey checked out Storm Lake St. Mary’s new LED school sign last week, complete with a thank you message to the local couple.

The sign and installation were financed through Dr. Ivey’s 50×50 Marathon project initiated several years ago. An avid runner and lifelong athlete, Dr. Ivey decided he would run a marathon in all 50 states before his 50th birthday. The two then garnered pledges from friends and family for St. Mary’s School, and over 13-hundred miles later, raised 35-thousand 740-dollars was raised for the local parochial school. The majority of the funds raised allowed for the purchase of the new sign which is at the corner of Seneca and Second Streets with notifications of upcoming events, cancellations, closings and even the current time and temperature. Student council members and office staff will be learning how to incorporate eye-catching graphics onto the sign.
The Iveys noted they are grateful to all of the generous donors who supported Troy and made the project possible.
