Tesfay Theft Arrest

A Storm Lake man has been arrested on theft charges.
Two victims told Storm Lake Police on Sunday that a friend of theirs, identified as 25-year-old Simon Tesfay of Storm Lake, allegedly stole over 35-thousand dollars in cash from the two victims on Sunday morning. Police were advised that Tesfay likely fled from Storm Lake, and was going to attempt to leave the state by car.
Following an investigation, Storm Lake Police acquired an arrest warrant for Tesfay, and broadcast to area departments and states to be on the lookout for him.
On Monday morning, Tesfay was apprehended by the Sioux Falls, South Dakota Police Department. Storm Lake Police Investigators traveled to Sioux Falls on Monday and interviewed Tesfay.
Storm Lake Police charged Tesfay with two counts of 1st Degree Theft, a class C felony. He’s being held in Sioux Falls, pending extradition back to Storm Lake.
The stolen money has not been recovered, and the incident remains under investigation.
