Two Arrested After Assault Report Investigated

Two people were arrested Friday evening in Storm Lake in connection with an assault.
Police were told a woman was allegedly assaulted at 312 East Fifth Street. The victim told police 39-year-old Jeffrey Bastiaanse of Storm Lake struck her in the mouth with a phone receiver. She then fled and called 911. She was taken by ambulance to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment of an injury to her mouth.
Police charged Bastiaanse with domestic assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor. He was held without bond.
Police determined the victim… 21-year-old Tiffany Clabaugh of Storm Lake… was wanted for fifth-degree theft, a simple misdemeanor… for an alleged theft of merchandise from the Storm Lake Wal-Mart in July. After she was released from
B-V-R-M-C, she was jailed on a 300-dollar bond.
