November 24, 2015
A Wall Lake woman… arrested in August by Storm Lake police for stealing a car and using stolen checks and credit and debit cards… has been sentenced to five years in prison in Buena Vista County District Court.
Nineteen-year-old Alexandria Pratt last month pleaded guilty to single counts of second-degree theft, third-degree burglary and identity theft. She was sentenced Monday to a total of five years in prison… to submit a d-n-a sample… and to pay 695-dollars in court costs.
Police arrested Pratt on August fourth in a vehicle that had been reported stolen from South Sioux City. A search of the vehicle turned up numerous items reported stolen in northwest Iowa and northeast Nebraska. Storm Lake Police allege Pratt on August third entered three unlocked vehicles in the 600-block of Michigan Street. Police allege Pratt removed license plates, a wallet containing credit cards, and paperwork from the vehicles. Some of the reported missing items were located in the vehicle Pratt was stopped in.
Police allege on August third, Pratt used checking account numbers attained from a victim of a vehicle burglary in an attempt to obtain 400-dollars in merchandise from the Storm Lake Wal-Mart. The sale was denied when Pratt could not present identification matching the victim’s.
