Pest Control Operators Course Offered Dec. 2

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Buena Vista County office will host a Pest Control Operators Continuing Instruction Course (CIC) for commercial pesticide applicators Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015.

The program is offered at office locations across Iowa through the ISU Extension and Outreach Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP).

The local attendance site for the Dec. 2 CIC is 824 Flindt Drive, Storm Lake. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by sessions from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The registration fee is $60 on or before Nov. 25 and $70 after Nov. 25. The course will provide continuing instruction credit for commercial pesticide applicators certified in categories 7A (General Household Pest), 7B (Termite), 8 (Public Health), and 10 (Research and Demonstration). The course will cover topics such as rodent inspection and management, bed bug control, the Wood-Destroying Organism (WDO) inspection reporting form, equipment calibration and safe handling techniques and reduction of off-target movement/drift.

Presenters this year include Dr. Bobby Corrigan, RMC Pest Management Consulting and Dr. Mike Potter, University of Kentucky.
