November 18, 2015
Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm lake has been named a 2015 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey Associates.
Representatives of BVRMC accepted the award at the Annual Press Ganey Conference. Deb Colshan, BVRMC Director of Medical-Surgical; Rob Colerick, BVRMC CEO; Patrick Ryan, Press Ganey CEO; and Trish Winger, BVRMC Director of First Embrace Obstetrics.
The award recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have consistently achieved the 95th percentile in one of the four categories: Patient Experience, Employee Engagement, Physician Engagement or Clinical Quality.
The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally-recognized symbol of achievement in health care. Presented annually, the award honors clients who consistently sustained performance in the top five-percent of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the year.
BVRMC CEO Rob Colerick says they’re reaching the goal of being the best health care provider for the people they serve. BVRMC employees focus on looking for ways to improve and consistently provide the best care for patients. Some practices include bedside reporting where nurses communicate about the patient’s care during shift change in front of the patient… use of teach-back to ensure the patient understands the information provided by clinical staff… and a focus on teamwork among departments.
