A young child received minor injuries when hit by a vehicle in Washta Tuesday afternoon.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reports 39-year-old Shannon Trapp of Washta was northbound on South Fifth Avenue in front of River Valley School. A child on a bike entered the roadway from between cars parked in the school parking lot. Trapp was unable to see the child… who was hit by the front corner of Trapp’s vehicle.

The child was taken by ambulance to Cherokee Regional Medical Center with possible but non-life threatening injuries. The Washta and Quimby fire departments assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
