Child Abuse Arrest
November 13, 2015
A Storm Lake woman has been arrested on a child abuse charge.
At approximately 8:30 this morning, The Storm Lake Police Department was notified of a possible child abuse by the Iowa Department of Human Services involving a seven-year-old child.
Police and DHS staff responded to 538 ½ Russell Street in connection with the investigation, and met with 38-year-old Akrihna Daniel of Storm Lake. At that location, police allege they observed a seven-year-old child with a minor injury to her head. Police allege that Daniel struck the child in the head with a cell phone as a form of discipline.
Following an investigation, police arrested Daniel and charged her with Child Endangerment Causing Bodily Injury, a class D felony. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a five-thousand dollar bond.
The child did not require medical attention, and was turned over to the custody of a family member.
