Laurens Arson Arrest
November 11, 2015
A Laurens man faces arson charges after taking over a home with signs of burning it down.
Laurens Police were called to 313 East Main Street Sunday, where a strong odor of gasoline was coming from the home. A perimeter was created and a negotiator attempted to make contact with 27-year-old Joshua Franks. Entry Teams were called to the scene… and after about four hours, Franks left the house and was taken into custody.
Officers discovered a large amount of damage to the property inside and gasoline had been poured throughout the house. An empty five-gallon gas container was found alongside a lighter.
Franks has been charged second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief, and incendiary material, all class “C” felonies… and making threats, a class “D” felony.
