C-63 Resurfacing, Bridge Project Plans Approved

November 10, 2015

Plans were approved Tuesday morning by the Buena Vista County Supervisors for two road projects.

County engineer Bret Wilkinson says four miles of C-63 will be resurfaced from the Cherokee County line east. He said it should get the surface back to a much better condition, as it’s now one of the worst roads in the county. Federal funds will pay for half of the one-million dollar project.

A bridge and approach will be replaced on C-43 in section ten of Grant Township. Wilkinson says it will be a continuous concrete slab, four feet wider than the present 26-foot bridge. He says it will also be considerably longer, due to DNR regulations. The project had been estimated at 450-thousand dollars, but it may be more due to the increased length. Federal bridge replacement funds will pay for 80-percent of the project.

Wilkinson said the bids for the project will be opened by the DOT in February.
