Alex Van Kalsbeek scored a game high 30 points leading MOC-Floyd Valley to a 65-50 win over Storm Lake Monday night in a class 3A sub-state quarter-final game played at Orange City.

The underdog Tornadoes didn't go down easily as they executed beautifully in the first quarter building a 19-10 lead.  Storm Lake would then score the first five points of the 2nd quarter taking their largest lead at 24-10 and forcing the Dutch to take a timeout with 6:46 left in the first half.  The hometown Dutch would then outscore Storm Lake 19-5 the rest of the way and the game was tied 29-29 at the break.

MOC-Floyd Valley then started the 2nd half on a 13-0 run to break the game open, their biggest lead coming at 50-33 with under three minutes to play in the 3rd quarter.

A scrappy Storm Lake team would never quit and they pulled within 58-50 with 2:41 to go.  The Dutch would then score the final seven points of the game for the final margin.

Kyle Christy was the only other Dutch player to score in double figures getting all 12 of his points in the 2nd half.
