Panther girls advance to regional quarter-final round

Danika Demers scored a game high 24 points to lead three Panthers in double figures and the Saint Mary's girls basketball team began 1A regional tournament play with a 56-29 win over visiting St. Edmond.

The Gaels did not make a field goal in the first half as the Panthers built a 25-7 lead after the first two quarters.  Saint Edmond was led by Cambrie McBride's ten points and they finish the season with a record of 0-21.

In a game that had 23 fouls called in the first half, Saint Mary's took advantage at the line going 16-for-19 at the line, the Gaels were 10-for-21.

Emily Nothwehr scored 16, and Ellie Bacon added ten as the Panthers improve to 11-10 overall.  Next up for Saint Mary's will be a regional quarter-final game versus LeMars-Gehlan (12-9) at LeMars next Tuesday night at 7pm.  The game will be broadcast on 97.5FM KBVU.
