Storm Lake vs. Western Christian basketball recap

The Western Christian basketball teams left Storm Lake Friday night with a pair of Lakes Conference wins.  The Wolfpack girls started the night with a 77-27 win, they had four players score in double figures led by Macay Vant Hul with 13 points.  Mary Yanga led Storm Lake with ten.  

Western Christian improves to 13-7 overall while Storm Lake falls to 2-16, the Tornadoes will finish the regular season with a game at LeMars Thursday night.

The Storm Lake boys team had a game plan to slow the pace of play down and they executed it for most of the game but the visiting Wolfpack outscored the Tornadoes 14-3 in the 4th quarter in their 42-32 win.  The Tornadoes led 17-16 at halftime and carried a 29-28 lead into the 4th quarter but a few turnovers early in the 4th turned a one point lead into a 37-29 deficit until Mark Eddie hit a 3-pointer with three minutes to go in the game to cut it to 37-32.  That basket accounted for the only points of the quarter for the Tornadoes who fall to 7-9 overall and finish the Lakes Conferene schedule at 5-5.

Dawson Feenstra scored 12 of his game high 13 points in the 2nd half and Western Christian improved to 15-3 overall and 9-0 in the Lakes Conferece.  Eddie led Storm Lake with nine points.

The Tornadoes will play again Monday night at home against Sioux City-West with the JV game starting at 6pm and the varsity game to follow.
