The Spencer Tigers beat Storm Lake 28-0 Friday night at Spencer. It was a defensive battle in the first half with Spencer scoring the only touchdown thanks in large part to a 4th-down-and 16 conversion which gave them first and goal at the Tornado six yard line. Two plays later quarterback Gage Garnatz ran it in from a yard out. In the first half Spencer had 82 yards of offense on 19 plays and Storm Lake had 74 yards of offense on 29 plays. The Tornadoes missed a 26 yard field goal late in the first half after a 16 play drive that chewed up eight plus minutes.
Storm Lake turned the ball over on their first two second half possessions and the Tigers cashed in on the 2nd one when Garnatz ran in from 14 yards out capping off a 36 yard drive and it was 14-0 at the end of the third quarter.
Garnatz scored another touchdown from a yard out on 4th down and goal after Isaiah Spencer set it up with a 67 yard run. Spencer would score the final touchdown of the game racing 45 yards for the final score.
